A new year, so much happening...

The Israeli government's bloody use of their U.S.-supplied tanks and smart bombs against the helpless people trapped in tiny Gaza has drawn the eyes of the whole world. The U.S. media are having trouble ignoring the frankly genocidal stink of the proceedings, even as they try to frame this as a war -- a conflict between purported equals -- rather than as the lopsided turkey shoot that it so obviously is. Al Jazeera showed leaflets dropped over Gaza by the Israeli planes fluttering to the ground, bearing warnings that those who don't want to be punished with Hamas should leave, even as the Israeli army closed the borders, making such flight impossible.
